예레미야애가 3장 24절은 "내 심령에 이르기를 여호와는 나의 기업이시니 그러므로 내가 저를 바라리라 하도다"라고 말합니다. 이 말씀은 하나님을 자신의 기업, 즉 미래의 소망과 보상으로 삼는 것입니다. 시인은 하나님이 그를 돌보시고 그의 필요를 공급하실 것임을 알고 있습니다.
