Kim Pastor's Word Column] The Tax Collector Who Stood at a Distance
Luke 18:13 “But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ ”
The story of the tax collector who stood at a distance is a powerful reminder that God is more interested in our humility than our outward appearances. The tax collector, a despised figure in his society, knew that he was a sinner and came to God with a humble heart. In contrast, the Pharisee, who was considered to be a righteous man, prayed with pride and self-righteousness.
The lesson of this story is that God is not impressed by our outward appearances or our religious accomplishments. He is more interested in our hearts and our humility. If we come to God with a humble heart, He will be merciful to us.
If you are feeling like a sinner, don't be afraid to come to God with a humble heart. He will welcome you with open arms. -Jinju Full Church.
