Kim Pastor's Word Meditation] Matthew 16:24
"Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone wants to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me."
This verse is part of Jesus's teaching on discipleship. He is telling his disciples that if they want to follow him, they must be willing to give up their own desires and ambitions. They must be willing to take up their cross, which represents the suffering and death that they may face if they follow Jesus.
The phrase "deny himself" means to put aside one's own desires and interests in order to follow Jesus. It means to be willing to let go of what is important to us in order to follow God's will.
The phrase "take up his cross" means to be willing to suffer for the sake of Jesus. It means to be willing to face hardship and persecution, even death, if necessary.
Matthew 16:24 is a challenging verse, but it is also a hopeful one. It reminds us that following Jesus is not always easy, but it is always worth it. If we are willing to deny ourselves and take up our cross, we will find eternal life with him. -Jinju Full Church.
