"무릇 더러운 말은 너희 입 밖에도 내지 말고 오직 덕을 세우는 데 소용되는 대로 선한 말을 하여 듣는 자들에게 은혜를 끼치게 하라"

에베소서 4장 29절은 그리스도인들이 말에 유의해야 할 것을 가르치는 말씀입니다. 바울은 먼저 "더러운 말"을 입 밖에 내지 말라고 합니다. 여기서 "더러운 말"은 거짓말, 중상모략, 욕설, 비방 등 다른 사람을 해치거나 상처 주는 말을 의미합니다. 이러한 말은 하나님의 거룩함을 나타내지 못하며, 오히려 다른 사람을 분노하게 하고 상처 입히는 결과를 초래합니다.

바울은 또한 "덕을 세우는데 소용되는대로 선한 말"을 해야 한다고 말합니다. 여기서 "덕을 세우는 말"은 다른 사람을 격려하고 위로하며, 선을 가르치는 말을 의미합니다. 이러한 말은 다른 사람에게 유익을 주고, 그들의 삶을 더 나은 방향으로 이끌어 줍니다.

바울은 마지막으로 "듣는 자들에게 은혜를 끼치게" 하라고 말합니다. 여기서 "은혜를 끼치는 말"은 다른 사람의 마음을 감동시키고, 그들이 하나님을 더 사랑하게 하는 말을 의미합니다. 이러한 말은 다른 사람에게 영적인 유익을 주고, 그들의 영혼을 구원하는 데 기여합니다.

오늘날 우리는 인터넷과 SNS의 발달로 인해 말의 중요성이 더욱 커졌습니다. 우리는 언제 어디서든 쉽게 말을 할 수 있게 되었지만, 그만큼 말의 무게와 책임감도 커졌습니다. 우리는 바울의 말씀을 묵상하고, 우리의 말을 더욱 신중하게 선택해야 할 것입니다.

에베소서 4장 29절을 묵상하면서,

* 나는 더러운 말을 입 밖에 내지 않겠습니다.
* 덕을 세우고, 다른 사람에게 유익을 주는 말을 하겠습니다.
* 듣는 자들에게 은혜를 끼치는 말을 하겠습니다.

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."

Ephesus 4:29 is a passage that teaches Christians to be mindful of their speech. Paul first instructs them not to speak "filthy language." Here, "filthy language" refers to words that harm or injure others, such as lies, slander, profanity, and insults. These words do not reflect God's holiness, but rather lead to anger and hurt.

Paul also tells Christians to speak "good words that build up," which means words that encourage, comfort, and teach others to do good. These words are beneficial to others and help them to live better lives.

Finally, Paul says to speak words that "glorify God," which means words that touch others' hearts and lead them to love God more. These words are spiritually beneficial to others and contribute to their salvation.

In today's world, the importance of speech has become even greater due to the development of the internet and social media. We are now able to speak easily anywhere and at any time, but the weight and responsibility of speech has also increased. We should meditate on Paul's words and choose our words more carefully.

As I have meditated on Ephesians 4:29, I have made the following resolutions:

* I will not speak filthy language.
* I will speak words that build up and benefit others.
* I will speak words that glorify God.
